Hello everyone!! Happy Friday ❤ Today’s post is all about our trip to Boston last month! In early October, Conor and I accompanied my mom to Boston (her hometown) for a 4-day weekend! Our main purpose for the trip was to be able to attend my Great Aunt Emily’s 90th (surprise!) birthday party! But since we had 4 days there, we were able to fit in quite a bit 🙂
^^ I love the cliche view pictures from planes 🙂 ^^ We flew into Boston Logan and then took the train into downtown. We stayed at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Boston (unfortunately no luck with employee rates for this trip… maybe next time 🙂 ). But the hotel was lovely with nice, spacious rooms… and in a great location, too!
We met up with my Aunt and Uncle for lunch, and then walked around downtown exploring until it was time for the Red Sox game! Seeing a game at Fenway was on Conor’s bucket list… so, check!! And my Uncle got us all matching Red Sox hats so it was perfect!!
We did sort of a ‘touristy’ day the next day… we hit up the aquarium and wanted to go to Old Ironsides but it was a really rainy day so that was nixed from the list. We wandered around Faneuil Hall and the city market area and did some shopping as well! Boston’s streets are quite crazy but the mix of old and new architecture was amazing to us!
^^ One afternoon while waiting on our Uber, the cutest little jazz band starting an impromptu set right outside the hotel! Too cute ❤ That night we had a little birthday dinner with my Aunt Emily and she had no idea that this was just a pre-party before her big surprise party! 🙂 We had dinner out and then went back to her house in Malden for birthday cupcakes. We got to look through old photos, and it was so fun to hear my mom and Uncle reminisce on their childhood days spent at Aunt Emily’s house.
The next day was the true birthday surprise party! It was such a success, and one of my mom’s cousins put together a wonderful slideshow detailing Great Aunt Emily’s life. There were so many wonderful photographs in the slideshow and lots of stories and memories that were shared as the slideshow went on 🙂 It was truly precious to celebrate such a special woman, and as I said at the party, I am honored to be named after her! 🙂 ❤ It was also great to catch up with relatives that I haven’t seen in a decade or more! We really do need to make our Boston trips more frequent…
On our final day, we grabbed coffees and bagels and then explored Boston Common and Beacon Hill! Both were to die for. Picture perfect in every way ❤
^^ I love him 🙂 🙂 🙂 ^^
It was sad to say goodbye to Boston, but we all talked on the way home about how we really do need to get up that way more often. It’s such a fun city and I hope to get back soon! Thanks for reading about our New England getaway ❤ Until next time, Em
